Description
Back in 1999, my friends and I used to play Rollcage by Psychnosis. It was a racing game where cars had large wheels, so no matter if you were upside-down or upside-up, you could keep racing. Recently, after dismantling a failed automatic gearbox project, I had the idea of building a Rollcage EV3 model. You can build it with the EV3 31313 retail set if you add some large wheels. I also added Ackerman steering, for which you need two thin 4M beams. The Ackerman steering is optional.
How to drive the Rollcage EV3 car
To drive this car, you need a PS3 or PS4 controller and connect it to your EV3 brick with Bluetooth. The PS3 code is included in the download.
The car detects whether it is upside-down by checking the light sensor. I’m assuming it is light above the car and dark below it.
You can adjust the light/dark threshold on the gamepad by pressing up and down on the DPad.
You can trim the steering direction on the gamepad by pressing left and right on the DPad.
